The Madrid brand's history dates back to the 1960s when Jerry Madrid began shaping surfboards in his parents' Southern California garage. When the waves weren’t good enough for surfing, Jerry crafted skateboards for himself and his friends. In 1976, while working as a firefighter, Jerry officially started the business with the help of his brothers, Jim and Jeff.
In the '80s, Madrid created iconic collaborations, including the famous Madrid x Valterra skateboard used by Marty McFly in the "Back to the Future" movie, and the Vans x Madrid Fly shoe, which was the first co-branded skate shoe from Vans.
